Mountain Dew, or Mtn Dew, is a fizzy soft drink. The original recipe was invented in 1940 at two beverage bottlers in Tennessee, Barney and Ally Hartman. Pepsi-Cola acquired the brands and production rights in 1964, then distributed the drink throughout the United States. 

The drink is now produced in several flavors.
